SMART (Skills Mastery and Resistance Training)  Moves helps young people to change their attitudes about using alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and engaging in premature sexual involvement through having members participate in fun, interactive, and educational programming.  SMART Moves works with pre-teens to identify and resist peer and media pressures to use alcohol and other drugs and to understand the physical and social changes taking place in their lives while coping with the stress of growing up. A focus is placed on gaining knowledge and opening up avenues for communication among staff members, parents, guardians and Club members regarding alcohol and other drugs. In this new millennium, it is more critical than ever to have a positive impact on our youth, and through them, on generations to come. As a society, we have no greater resource than our children. The activities and messages of the SMART Moves program are designed to enable young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. We are confident that the youth and teens who participate in this program will be armed with the crucial knowledge needed to have a great future.
