Club Kids Get Fit

As part of their three-year national partnership, BGCA and Nestlé are challenging Clubs around the country to inspire local kids to achieve tangible short-term fitness goals. As the nation’s number one advocate for youth, BGCA has set bold goals to enable more kids to achieve a great future, including logging 4 billion hours of physical activity from Club kids and teens by 2018. On Friday, May 6th, our Kava Kids Club, Reecy Davis Club, and Rockwall Club joined together to kick-off The Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Texas’s First Annual National Fitness Challenge. 50 Club Kids participated in the shuttle run competition, curl ups, jump rope, push up competition, a 50 yard dash and concluded with team tug-of- war. “Club members are given the opportunity to compete against themselves by tracking their accomplishments and striving for improvement – helping them build motivation, confidence and physical competence”, said Mr. Brian (Reecy Davis). Promoting a culture of health and wellness is critical as we work to enable our Clubs’ kids and teens to have great futures. Moreover, the challenge allows Club Kids from various locations to interact and get to know new people. Mr. Josh noted, “Jaxsyn from Reecy and Kameron from Kava were on the same team and by the end of the day they were friends!”
