Collin County Hobby Beekeepers Association

We recently had the wonderful opportunity to learn all about bees and how to take care of them from our friends at the Collin County Beekeepers Association. When Ms. Abby Pettibon (the “Honey Princess”) came to visit BGC Rockwall, we learned several interesting facts about honey. We learned that honey can be different colors and have different flavors based on which kind of flowers the bee’s visited. There are 3 classes of bee’s: The Queen bee, the larger soldier bee’s that protect the hive, and the worker bee’s that collect the pollen and turn it into honey.  For a treat the kids snacked on honey sticks that were provided by our visitors. Thank you, Collin County Honey Beekeepers Association, for the amazing experience!
