Keystone Clubs are the ultimate teen program. The leadership development experience gets kids ranging in ages from 14 to 18 involved in academic success, career prep, and community service activities. Keystone Club members are led by a skilled advisor that guides the members as they connect with other motivated teens that share common goals and interests. Once a year BGCA hosts a character and leadership development conference for Boys & Girls Club teens. This year Rockwall’s Club Director Jake Termin and teen members Aiden Singleton and Brandon Wallace attended the Keystone Conference in Dallas, TX. The Keystone Conference featured a special celebrity guest speaker – award winning actress, 16-year-old Yara Shahidi, who plays Zoey on the hit ABC show “Black-ish.” Shahidi spoke on the conference theme “Year of the Teen” which helped teens gain a sense of hope and discover their inner power to make a difference in their lives, their Clubs and local communities. “Being in a room full of teens who know their opinion matters and they can make a difference in their communities was an incredible feeling,” remarked Mr. Jake.
